BOORARA NATIONAL PARK

The historic Boorara Tree fire lookout was one of the last fire lookouts built in the late 1950s. The cabin and tree crown has been removed for safety reasons, but you can still see the original wooden pegs winding their way up the trunk to the top of the tree. There is a replica lookout cabin at the base of the tree where visitors can experience a little of the lookout men and women's life when spotting fires.

In winter, Lane Poole Falls is one of the most spectacular water falls to be encountered in the Karri forest. The five-kilometre return walk trail leads off from Boorara Tree and meanders through the dense understory of the forest and is a blaze of colour when the spring wildflowers are in bloom. There is a lookout with a shelter near the falls to have a rest and listen to the abundant bird life.
