This historic 12km return walk commences within the townsite of Manjimup at Rose Street, surrounded by a mixed use of commercial and residential development through bush land to Cronin Street. It then passes through rural development and natural bush between the townsite boundary and Deanmill.

 

The rail link was constructed in 1912 joining the communities of Manjimup and Deanmill.

 

Deanmill became the site of the Number One State Sawmill that provided sleepers for the construction of the Transcontinental Railway line. The settlement was named after Mr Alfred Dean, the Mill Construction Engineer, who was its first manager. The hauling of logs from the bush to the mill by locomotives ceased in 1955, the railway from Deanmill to Manjimup was closed in 1966 and the tramway was dismantled in the 1980's leaving only the reserve. This railway reserve was later converted to walk/mountain bike trail.
