The Lake Muir - Unicup system is a complex landscape of valley floor wetlands, from fresh water to primary saline lakes. Lake Unicup supports variable vegetation that includes flooded gum, sandplain Banksia and yate woodland, wet heaths and sedgelands.

Lake Unicup is ideal for bird watching, as there are many species of wetland birds in this area. During the winter months when the rain fills the lake, it reaches an area of 200ha.

There is a make shift hut that was used to as water ski club, but nowadays waterskiing is not allowed on the lake.
